Here we collect useful advice and tips on Cyprus. Not directly related to nekkid life in Cyprus but not easy to find elsewhere

Currencies and Payment in Cyprus

Three currencies are in use in Cyprus. Euro EUR (in the south), Turkish lira TRY (in the north) and British Pounds GBP (inofficially in use for real estate prices and often for cars and rents; especially in the north)

In most places in North Cyprus you can pay in Euro – with a very very bad rate. You can pay with your credit card - most charge 3%. You can change cash at money exchange shops – mostly rates are not so bad. Also, rates at casinos are quite good usually (you load your card/ticket with Euro, play just one or two times for minimal bets - as low as 2 TRY - and then go to a different counter to get your money back in TRY)

The cheapest and most convenient way however is to get a debit card from one of the following services that are specialised on expats and internationtal travellers and that have very favourable rates for automatic currency conversations:

As first step, you need to transfer a small amount (20 Euro) to the account and then can order your card for free.

Consider it as a prepaid card – you can use it both in North and South Cyprus. Technically it's a debit card, but it has a stamped numbers and, to our experience, you can use it everywhere where you can pay with credit card. Also, at some cash machines you can withdraw cash for free (limited amount)

Be sure choose always the local currency (TRY or EUR). If the cash machine or the restaurant offers you to make the bill in GBP, reject the offer and insist to charge you in the local curreny.
