 +It is in a nature protection zone; along with other sand beaches in Karpazthe Golden Beach is an important nesting area for sea turtles. On the beach and elsewhere in the protection zone, camping is forbidden. Often evening times, the police is comes to check the main areas near the parking spaces for tents.
 +
 +Until 2017, there were two restaurants and a couple of wooden chalets for overnight stay directly in proximity of the beach. Following a court order, they were destroyed since they were illegally built. Nowadays, there are no facilities on the beach; also there is no sunshade; therefore we recommend taking your own umbrellas.

 +====How to reach the Golden Beach====

-The Golden Beach is, along with other sand beaches in Karpaz, an important nesting area for sea turtlesCamping on the beach and the surrounding protection areas is strictly forbidden. The Golden Beach is also known as an unofficial nudist beach (areas on the west of the beach)[4] +From Famagusta or Girne follow the road to Yeni Erenköy (Gialousa) and then the Karpaz Anayolu to the village of Dipkarpaz (Risokarpaso)From there on, follow the signs to Apostolos Andreas Monastery. The beach is about 20 km from the village centre. The condition of the road is not the best for the last  few kilometers; but they are certainly doeable with a normal car if you drive carefully.
-==History==+

-In the first years after the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus in 1974 the Golden Beach and the tip of the Karpaz peninsular were under Turkish military control and access was restricted. After the unilateral independence declaration in 1983, the area became a natural park and protection was further strenghend in 1997 and 1998 TRNC Environment Law [5]+During the high season, tourist busses stop for like one or two hours at the Golden Beach, however those tourists just seldomly walk a lot. Hitchhiking to the beach is dueable; there is just one road ans quite a few people driving from the village to the monastery and the Golden Beach is on the way.

-From the 1990 on the forestry department of the TRNC allowed the operation of small restaurants and wooden chalets for overnight stays in a few areas around the Golden BeachWith growing awareness for nature protection and the definition of protection zones in line with Natura 2000 standards, the rental contracts were revoked and the operators were brought to court in 2013 for failing to clean the areaIn 2016 the TRNC supreme court confirmed previous court decisions and ordered the bungalows, restaurants and sanitary facilities to be demolished by June 2016, which finally happened only a year later. The move was applauded by environmentialists; however the former operators criticised the decision and argued that without them, nobody would clean the beach and the lack of sanitation facilities would cause issues for beachgoers and the nature.[6] Currently, there is no construction left on the beach itself, although there is still one restaurant on the eastern side on the hill overseeing the beach area. +<olmap id="olMap" width="800px" height="500px" lat="35.639459" lon="34.534519" zoom="11" statusbar="1" toolbar="1" controls="1" poihoverstyle="0" baselyr="OpenStreetMap" >
